Sermorelin
Description
Sermorelin acetate is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), comprising the first 29 amino acids of the naturally occurring 44 amino acid sequence. It binds to the GHRH receptor on anterior pituitary somatotrophs. Research applications include studies of growth hormone secretion and age-related hormonal changes.
Research Summary
Sermorelin has been studied in over 70 clinical trials for growth hormone deficiency and age-related GH decline. Research demonstrates dose-dependent stimulation of pulsatile GH release, with favorable safety profiles in long-term studies. It preserves the natural feedback regulation of the GH axis.
Mechanism of Action
Binds to the growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) receptor on anterior pituitary somatotrophs. Stimulates synthesis and pulsatile secretion of growth hormone through cAMP-mediated signaling, while maintaining hypothalamic-pituitary feedback regulation.
